Simple steps to point godaddy domain to blogger- 2017 tutorial

When it comes to pointing or setting up domains , godaddy provides a very simple way of pointing your domain to blogger. To bloggers who do not have all it takes to point their new domains to their blogger hosted blogs, I will recommend you buy your domain from godaddy as it is very simple to set up. In this tutorial, I will be teaching you how  to set up your godaddy domains on blogger to replace your long , boring blogspot.com domain to a shorter .com , .net , .org , etc domains. Without wasting much time, let's proceed with the tutorial.

How to change your blogspot.com subdomain to a custom domain from Godady

Steps:

*Downloading your DNS settings file from blogger
*Uploading your DNS settings file to Godaddy
*Saving your new domain

Downloading your DNS settings file from blogger

Step 1
Login to your blogger dashboard by visiting http://blogger.com. On the left hand menu, click on settings and click on  Set up a third-party URL for your blog


Step 2
Under Third-party domain settings, enter your domain. Make sure you add the www prefix to your domain . Click on Save.

Step 3
After clicking on Save, an error will be displayed telling you that We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 32. Ignore the error and look for the DNS settings file link. Click on it to download the file. This file will be found in your downloads folder. Note the file name so that you will  recognize it when you will be required to upload it to Godaddy.

Step 4
Open a new tab and visit godaddy.com . Login to your account and click on your account name. Next click on Manage My Domains ( refer to the image below) . 

Step 5
You will be shown a list of your domains. Click the advanced list view button to toggle the view as shown below.


Step 6
Next click on the dropdown arrow beside your domain and then click on Manage DNS
Step 7
Scroll down and click on Import Settings File > Locate the DNS settings file you downloaded. Your file will be automatically.

Step 8
Now go back to your blogger tab and click on save. Once saved, we will be required to redirect your blogname.com to www.yourblogname.com 

Finally tick the Redirect yourblogname.com to www.yourblogname.com and click on save. Congrats!! Your domain is ready to use! . Type in your domain in the address bar and hit the enter button and you will see your domain live.
